Ackerman Toyota Dealer near Kirkwood is pleased to announce that Toyota Financial Services also referred to as TFS, and GLAAD- the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, have joined forces against bullying. The two have taken a stand along with media outlets, celebrities, and corporations and launched the “Go Purple for Spirit Day” app which is available on iPhones and Android smartphones.
The app provides resources and tools that can be accessed with anti-bullying information and a tool that turns photos purple. The photos can be shared on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media to show user’s support for Spirit Day.
Spirit Day was created in order to support lesbian and gay, bisexual, and transgender youth (LGBT), and to increase awareness of the danger involved in bullying.
“Everyone at Toyota Financial Services, and across the Toyota family, is proud and excited to be a part of this year’s Spirit Day,” said Ann Bybee, TFS vice president, corporate strategy, communications & community relations. “Going purple for the day is a small but powerful way we can all show our support for those who have been bullied or who fear being bullied. It is so important to raise awareness that bullying isn’t acceptable. At Toyota, we have always embraced a guiding principle of ‘respect for people,’ which has made us the company we are today. And it is a principle that includes not only our employees and customers, but everyone, without exception.”
Celebrity supporters of the program include; Perez Hilton, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, TV icon George Takei, and talk show host Wendy Williams, Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Tyra Banks, Ricky Martin, Cher, and Julianne Moore. Corporations involved include; AMC Entertainment, AT&T, CNBC, Delta Air Lines, Facebook, Hewlett-Packard, McGraw-Hill, Omnicom, Warner Bros., and Yahoo.
“By going purple for Spirit Day, millions of Americans are helping to send a clear message that no one should be bullied simply because of who they are,” said GLAAD President Herndon Graddick.

The 2012 FJ Cruiser
With an impressive trail-rated performance that test drivers love and rate best in class, the used Toyota FJ Cruiser doesn’t make a big compromise with its manners on the pavement like other dedicated one dimensional off-road SUVs do. Test drivers add that the FJ Cruiser has a fairly comfortable ride, and delivers a more responsive performance than most of the competitors in this affordable mid-size SUV segment.
Automotive reviewers recommend to Shoppers looking for a dedicated boulder-bashing SUV that’s a bit civilized for the 9-to-5 commute, the Toyota FJ Cruiser is one of the best options on the market.
The Toyota FJ Cruiser is available in only one trim package. For 2012, the Trail Teams Special Edition Package adds one new exterior paint color scheme, but the FJ doesn’t see any other changes. Test drivers favorite feature on the FJ Cruiser is that it’s one of few SUVs on that market available with a manual transmission.
“This dedicated off-roader is anything but straightforward and ultra-sensible. But what it lacks in sensibility, it makes up for with lots of character; it’s fun to drive and even more fun to look at. Plus, it maintains one of those well-known Toyota family traits: It’s dependable.” — Edmunds
